Elizabeth McGee – Tax Attorney Profile
Liz successfully advocates for clients in tax disputes with the IRS and state taxing authorities. She helps clients reduce their federal and state tax burdens and comply with federal and state tax laws. She focuses her practice on tax controversy and litigation and represents clients during Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and state tax audits, administrative appeals, collection negotiations, and litigation.
Before she began her solo practice, Liz served as an attorney advisor at the United States Tax Court for two years, then worked as an attorney at several leading tax practices in Washington, D.C., New York City, and California. Liz earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Taxation from NYU, the nation’s premier graduate tax program, and her law degree from Cornell Law School.
In addition to tax controversy, Ms. McGee has substantial business tax experience. She has advised on the tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, securities offerings, real estate transactions, cancellation of indebtedness, investments by tax-exempt and non-U.S. investors, as well as complex tax treaty issues and inbound and outbound taxation.
Ms. McGee regularly speaks to legal and tax professionals on issues of taxation and has published numerous articles on an array of tax topics.
